ยง 1.1. 19 Rogue.
So, you wanna be a 19 Rogue do you? Well come on down Stereo-type lane! You want to be a Gnome or an Undead yeah? Great! You will fit right in!
1.2. Your role in WSG.
Well, at first i wouldnt even bother telling you what your role is. As you probably wont follow it. But heck-- ill do it anyway because im bored.
Rogues can carry a heavy dps at the enemy flag-carrier, as well as bursting down enemies quickly. And of course, Rogues has always have the greatest
advantage of them all in BG's. The power of Surprise (insert gasp).
1.3. Your Gear.
This is where you decide what twink you wanna be, you wanna be that bad-ass wearing the Shadowfang? Or the slick ambushing guy doing the Assassin's Blade?
1.3.1. Dodge Gear.
Welcome to the Dodge-Gear center! Here i will put a list containing enchants for YOU to maximize your Dodge-gear, you WILL get gimped against Hunters if they
get off a shot at you, but hey.. its fun having 65% Dodge, aint it?
Head. Lucky Fishing Hat / 8 Agility.
Neck. WSG Neck.
Shoulders. Serpent's Shoulders (as of 2.3 theese shoulders give you 9 Agility).
Back. Glowing Lizardscale Cloak / 12 Dodge Rating (Some people use the Sentry Cloak, i do. Because i dont want to switch out that pathetic little agility for the high stamina it offers.)
Chest. Blackened Defias Chest / 8 Agility. (If you are Alliance, get the Tunic of Westfall. Hook it up at thottbot.)
Wrist. Forest Leather Bracers / 9 Stamina (I recommend this over Defense rating.)
Gloves. Gloves of the Fang / 15 Agility (As of patch 2.3 These gloves give an astonoshing 5 Strength and 6 Agility!).
Belt. Deviate Scale Belt.
Legs. Dark Leather Pants / 40 Stamina 12 Agility. (Yes, it DOES cost alot of money.)
Boots. Feet of the Lynx / 7 Agility (People preferring Nat Pagle's Boots, do the maths, Feet of the Lynx maximize the amount of Agility for you, this is the dodge-gear section.)
Ring 1. Meadow Ring of Eluding / Seal of Sylvanas ( The Eluding ring is VERY Rare, i suggest you farm WC with an AOE class.)
Ring 2. Meadow Ring of Eluding / WSG Ring. (The Eluding ring is not unique.)
Trinket 1. Arena Grandmaster (You get this trinket from obtaining 12 Arena Master trinkets from the chest in STV every 3rd hour. 12, 15, etc.)
Trinket 2. Arena Grandmaster
1.3.2. Balanced Gear.
Head. Lucky Fishing Hat / 100 Hp.
Neck. WSG Neck.
Shoulders. Serpent's Shoulders
Back. Sentry Cloak / 12 Dodge Rating
Chest. Blackened Defias Chest / 100 Hp.
Wrist. Wrangler's Wristbands of the Monkey / 9 Stamina.
Gloves. Scouting Gloves of the Monkey / 15 Agility.
Belt. Deviate Scale Belt.
Legs. Scouting Trousers of the Monkey / 40 Stamina 12 Agility.
Boots. Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin Boots / Cat's Swiftness.
Ring 1. Seal of Sylvanas.
Ring 2. WSG Ring.
Trinket 1. Arena Grandmaster.
Trinket 2. Insignia of the Horde.
1.3.4. Daggers.
Personally i would suggest you NOT to use Daggers, because after the ambush/backstab, your dps is gimped beyond the maximum. But if you indeed
want 'zomgcrits', this is the weapons you should use.
Mainhand: Assassin's Blade. / 15 Agility
Offhand: WSG Dagger. / 15 Agility
Thrown: Throat Piercers
1.3.5. Others.
So you wanna go with the better option? Good for you!
Mainhand: Shadowfang / 15 Agility / Lifestealing (For Dodge-rogues, go with 15 Agility, all others go Lifestealing.)
Offhand: WSG Daggers / Cruel Barb (Damage Rogues go Cruel Barb, balanced go Daggers, as they offer quite nice side-stats.)
1.4. Races.
Horde:
Undead: Good race, WoTF offers an fear-break/immune to fear in 3 seconds. Only negative thing about it would be you looking like everyone else.
Tauren: ... Dont even ask.
Orc: Good for Zomg-crits rogues, with Blood Fury you get alot of Extra AP.
Blood Elf: Sure.. its DECENT, it got an interrupt which can be used for killing an heal when your kick cooldown is up.
Troll: Not alot of theese around, and i dont suggest you making one, their racial isnt just viable enough to match the others.
Alliance:
Human: Nice racial for rep-grinding, and for dueling against other rogues, otherwise it's pretty useless.
Gnome: Hey there, Mr.Stereotype! I wont argue with you, its an awesome race, Escape Artist is great.
Dwarf: Bad.. just bad, you wont find any treasuers in WSG, and stoneform doesnt offer enough armor to be a viable racial.
1.5. Talent Tree.
Balanced:
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft - I guess this build is pretty good if you want to be balanced, a gouge-runecloth bandage offers you around 1800 hp gain.
Dodge:
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft - I suggest you putting points in precision, as your HP being limited we cant afford you to miss alot, and believe me, you do miss alot.

2.1. 29 Rogue.
There's really nothing special about 29 Rogues, i suggest you making a hunter, which i will be making a nice guide about soon. But sure.. they are good, if played right.
2.2. Your role in WSG.
Same as 19, keeping strong DPS at enemy flagcarriers and bursting down important people.
2.3. Your role in AB.
Well, i guess you could sneak around and tag bases. Most of the randoms in the 29 bracket dont really care about their bases and they decide to go all WSG on it.
2.4. Your Gear.
I'm not going to bother posting dagger oppinions, as i just dont plain like them, because im not about 1-shoting people in the BG and then feeling good about myself.
Helm. Pathfinder's Helm of the Monkey / 8 Agility.
Neck. WSG Neck.
Shoulder. Forest Tracker's Epaulets
Cloak. Parachute Cloak / 12 Agility.
Chest. Raptor Hunter's Tunic.
Wrists. Barbaric Bracers / 9 Stamina (Yes these are the best... i've done the
maths)
Gloves. Razzeric's Racing Grips / 15 Agility (Do NOT go for 26 AP.)
Belt. Defiler's Leather Girdle. (Alliance one is called Highlander's if im not mistaken.)
Legs. Petrolspill Leggings / 40 Stamina 12 Agility
Boots. Defiler's Leather Boots / 7 Agility. (Or Alliance-one.. Highlander's.)
Ring 1. WSG Ring.
Ring 2. Signet of Argas
Trinket 1. Arena Grandmaster (Yes, this one is still great, there are some nets you can make with Engineering, but they CAN backfire, so i dont suggest you using them.)
Trinket 2. Insignia of the Horde.
Mainhand: Zealot's Blade / 15 Agility.
Offhand: Vendetta / 15 Agility
Thrown: Throat Piercers.
2.5. Races.
Undead: Same as 19, WoTF is great.
Orc: Offers very nice AP at this level. But remember the healing reduce.
Troll: Same as 19, just not as good as the big guys.
Blood Elf: Nice Silence against casters, because there are alot of casters in the 29 bracket.
2.6. Talent Tree.
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft - This is the spec i would recommend, great damage, and removing armor from the Warriors, which is quite a dominating class at this bracket.

3.1. 39 Rogue.
Cool, you're moving up to the big boys are you? Yeah i agree with you, low-level PvP can be one-sided. Well come on in to the ownage-land! Here the rogues are in command!
3.2. Your role in WSG.
Kicking ass, taking names. You have an incredible burst, and you are very hard to take down. Go for healers and flagcarriers.
3.3. Your role in AB.
Completely mash up peoples defense by taking down 3 people at the same time easily.
Sneaky tagging is always nice aswell.
3.4. Your Gear.
Same here, not going to bother with daggers since they just plain stink at this bracket.
Head. Nocturnal Cap of the Monkey / 8 Agility
Neck. WSG Neck.
Shoulders. Flintrock Shoulders (These are BOE and until you can get them i suggest you getting Fleshhide Shoulders from RFK.)
Cloak. Scorpashi Cape / 12 Agility.
Chest. Warden's Wraps / 6 To All Stats
Wrist. Scorpashi Wristbands / 24 Attack Power
Hands. Gloves of Holy Might / 15 Agility
Belt. Ogron's Sash.
Legs. Basilisk Hide Pants / 40 Stamina 12 Agility
Boots. Defiler's Leather Boots / 12 Agility
Ring 1. Adamantite Signet of the Tiger.
Ring 2. WSG Ring.
Trinket 1. Tidal Charm / Gnomish Shrink Ray / Figurine - Panther.
Trinket 2. Insigna of the Horde.
Mainhand: Legionnaire's Sword / Mongoose
Offhand: Vanquisher's Sword / Mongoose
Thrown: Outrider's Bow
3.5. Races.
Undead: Still a strong class, priests got a hefty psychic scream, LOTS of warlock twinks in the 39 bracket. Keep your WoTF armed and ready!
Orc: Very big and nice AP boost.
Blood Elf: Puny mana-tap, nice silence effect. But too much of a cooldown.
Troll: Not as good as the big guys.
3.6. Talent Tree.
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft - This is the build i would recommend you now in 2.3 that Hemorrhage has gotten a huge buff. And not to mention Dirty Deeds after 2.3. Yummy!

- Sep 19, 2015 8. Multiclassing The first 8-13 levels of rogue are surprisingly rich with features and Ability Score Increases, depending on your archetype. This makes it a bit tricky to decide when level to multiclass, but in general any class feature that I've previously rated Blue or Skyblue is usually worth keeping in your build, as are ASIs.
- After reading this handbook, I encourage you to read my Rogue Subclasses Breakdown and my Rogue Spells Breakdown. Rogue Class Features Hit Points: 1d8 hit points is dangerous if you go into melee alone, so be sure to have a nice tanky ally nearby and a healer waiting in the wings.

Dagger Builds
3.0.2 Combat Daggers PvE
Combat Daggers is a PvE build for high raid damage. It depends on [Backstab] and maintaining [Slice and Dice] to do most of its damage. Before the Burning Crusade expansion, it was the highest damage build available, but currently is roughly equal to Combat Swords/Fists. Due to the nature of [Combat Potency], overall regen is largely determined by the quality and speed of your offhand dagger 1.3-1.5.
3.0.2 Mutilate (Assasination) PvE
With the release of 3.0.2 the assassination tree got a very interesting talent for raiders called [Turn the Tables], whenever anyone in your party or raid (that's the important bit) blocks, dodges or parries an attack your chance to critically hit increases by 2%/4%/6% (for 1/2/3 points spent) for all combo moves for 8 seconds. This should mean that [Turn the Tables] will be active often from tank blocks, dodges, or parries.
A staple of rogue raid DPS would be the use of [Slice and Dice]. With the [Cut to the Chase] talent in this build, Every [Eviscerate] and [Envenom] finishing move has a 100% chance (if all points are in it) to refresh the [Slice and Dice] cooldown to its maximum time. This allows the player to save the energy and spend it on more damage oriented finishing moves and it frees up the space in the rotation to implement the new ability Hunger For Blood which is a stacking buff that increased damage dealt by up to 9% if all three stacks are up. This ability has a 30 second duration so the ability will need to be refreshed to keep the increased damage buff.
The ability rotation for this build should be: 4-5s/4-5r/4-5env
Opening with Mutilate is actually the best choice for this build because of [Overkill] which reduces the energy cost of abilities used while stealthed and for 6 seconds after breaking stealth by 10.To maximize DPS Deadly poison should be used on the mainhand while instant poison is used in the offhand.
With T5 or better geared rogues, this spec can easily pump out up to 1800 DPS on a single target. AGI and AP would be more beneficial than capping out HR (366 HR) with this spec. Extra HR and Haste are a major plus.
Alternative build that focuses on envenom as the only finishing move and different placement of left over points: 51/5/5
Sword/Fist/Mace Builds
3.0.2 Combat Swords - 5/51/5
Combat swords is currently recognized as, and is mathematically, the best DPS build. You can proc an extra MH attack from sword specialization with either hand. You'll want a quick off-hand, like [Latro's Shifting Sword] from Black Morass, for beginners. The next best upgrade is S2 Gladiators Sword for Combat Potency purposes. Aggression and Surprise Attacks boost the damage of your Sinister Strike while BF, imp SnD and Dual Wield spec increase your white damage. AR gives you a nice boost in yellow damage every 5 minutes. Surprise Attacks also makes your finishers unable to be dodged. With Precision and stacked hit rating, as long as you are behind a target, your finishers cannot miss or be dodged which means they will always connect.
You can take this build and sub in Fist Spec for combat fists. You are better off with a 1.3s dagger like [Warp Splinter's Thorn] than with any of the low level off-hand fists. The arena season 2 offhand fist is 1.5s, and is the next best upgrade to the dagger and should be taken. Both fist weapons from Al'ar are great as well.
Going with Mace spec and some better pvp talents also make for a great build with S2 Gladiator's weapons. The DPS in raids is not as strong as swords and fists, but still respectable. With some slight changes this can also be a decent pvp build.
WARNING:To those who spec into [Killing Spree], it WILL break CC. Nice rogue version of AoE but not smart to use in a raid where CC breaks could cause a wipe. Hopefully they'll fix this soon. Also has potential to apply poisons which could make it difficult to 're-sheep'.
3.0.2 Tri-spec Combat Hemo - 11/28/22 - PvE
This build was developed mid-2007 as a test spec and had some early success, but later was found to be inferior to combat. With the hemo changes of Patch 2.3 this changed. In theory, this build should have increase raid DPS more than your personal DPS lost by not speccing into combat. In reality, this never came to pass as the hemo debuff was bugged and spells were removing charges and not ticking the extra damage. This bug was not fixed until Patch 2.3.2 came out.
Another variant of this build is to move 1 point from your weapon spec to finish off Dirty Deeds to increase damage against those under 35% health. The difference in DPS vs 11/28/22 is negligible at best and because of raid conditions and variable situations you'd never be able to tell the difference. Mathematically though, the DPS is slightly higher.
Another version of the tri-spec is 11/21/29. This spec shifts the talents out of the weapon specialization and over to deadliness. Unfortunately, the DPS of this spec is slightly lower than the DPS of 11/28/22 or 11/27/23 even when you lack swords. 5% crit with fist spec and the increased crit damage of mace spec are still mathematically better than 4 in deadliness.
When 2.3.2 came out and hemo was nerfed, these builds became mathematically poor vs combat in all aspects. These builds are now obsolete vs combat and shouldn't be used if you want to achieve your full DPS potential.
3.0.2 Shadowstep Swords - 20/0/41 - PvP
This build has only been around for a very short while following the Shadowstep buffs (patch 2.3) and especially after the HARP (Hemorrhage/Adrenaline Rush/Preparation) build was altered to only allow one Adrenaline Rush at a time (Patch 2.3.2). It focuses on increased mobility and using a buffed SC/Hemo as your primary CP generator. This is a PvP build only and Maces and Fists can be used as well.
The 2 points in Improved EA are interchangeable and can be moved back to lethality, but because of resilience many people believe the benefit of Improved EA on cloth and leather targets to be more valuable than increasing damage that is decreased by resilience. This tends to be a bracket and team dependent decision though.
3.0.2 Shadowstep Swords (Combat) - 0/20/41 - PvP
This build is a solid PvP build. Overall damage will be decent because of Hemo + Sinister Calling + Serrated Blades. Prep helps immensely and if you happen to get into a longer arena match, Endurance could come into play. You have the ability to Ghostly Strike/Evasion which will yield over 100% dodge and Cheat Death for some survivability. Overall, this build has been popular and used with success in sub-1900 arenas.
3.0.2 AR/Prep - 0/31/30 - PvP
This was 'THE' build of 2.3. Post-2.3.2 this build is less attractive because AR was removed from Prep. Maces are the key to this build with the added mace stun effect. This was also a solid build before the hemo buff of Patch 2.3, and many used it with SS. If you do choose to move some points and use SS as your primary attack instead of hemo, picking up Blade Twisting for the daze effect would be wise. Improved Kick for the silence is also a nice bonus.
Rogue Handbook Dirty Deeds Questions
3.0.2 Old School Hemo - 27/3/31 - PvP
This was the PvP hemo spec of old, and variants could have some decent impact after Patch 2.3.2.
