Texture bugs or SP not loading? See comment for instructions

A scenery pack that adds 6 mountainous areas on Earth to the game, 1:1. Use for thumbnail screenshots, or general enjoyment. Now with better friction thanks to MisterT's help, and also ground buildings on the airport maps brought to you by a collaboration with Belugasub. The collab with Belugasub also let the mod become something much bigger than previous mods, the power of teams. Details are pushed to the max to get your Simpleplanes that 'Flight Sim Feel', yet it should be able to run on most computers. You may be turned away by the download size, but trust me, I think it's worth the wait.

PACK CONTENT

The number next to the location is the number of 8k texture tiles used.

  • Courchevel Airport, France (8) ^
  • Kangchenjunga, Nepal (10)
  • Aconcagua, Argentina (6)
  • Mount Taibai, China (8)
  • Banff National Park, Canada (8)
  • Milford Sound, New Zealand (11) ^

^ - Airports
Lukla was cut due to below-average looks.

Reshade (IMPORTANT)

Pictures taken with Reshade. Reshade boosts the map textures and can be used to add post-effects in real-time to your game. As someone said, 'RTX ON'.

Simpleplanes mods for mac catalina

I highly recommend checking out these two links. A simple 'sharpen' effect in Reshade really increases the texture quality of the scenery areas, and it works in real-time, so you'll experience it ingame (assuming you have enough processing power) rather than post production video or image effects. If you're using it for thumbnails, the sharpen effect alone in reshade is almost essential for making the map look its fullest. My settings include more post processing effects, but as it says on the guide, the 'sharpen effect' that's included in the package are the only things really required.

Credit

  • Ground buildings modelled by Belugasub, as well as his D-13 Adler. His modelling work is very nice and I hope they add some extra flair to the Milford Sound and Courchevel maps, as these have airports. He also helped a lot in terms of testing, Unity help and feedback, covering a lot of work.
  • A big thanks to MisterT and DuckMint's modding server for help getting the friction to finally work - allowing better working runways. Oh, and GroundStart works now. Have fun at the airport.
  • A6M8 Zero made by Sodium, used with his permission.
  • Kangchenjunga suggested by That's A Hot Topic
  • Mount Taibai suggested by BubbleLukasie
  • Milford Sound / Mitre Peak suggested by JamesPlanesII and JustDatGuy

We have tested the mod again thoroughly and have prepared an FAQ for common issues when the mod is not working as it should be.

    SP Won't Open!

    • This happened to Belugasub and similar people who have weaker devices. He restarted SP 3 times and then it worked. It may happen if you directly open the .spmod, as SP needs to move it automatically, all 2 gigabytes, into your mods folder and decompress before it can open. Maybe you can bypass this by placing the .spmod directly into the mods folder.

    Missing Textures!

    • This is probably a conflict with another mod. Please disable other map mods, probably GIS ones. Mattangi2 had this problem but for some reason it was solved by restarting SP.

    No Android!

Make SURE to get RESHADE (see description) if you want the best possible experience of using this mod, and get the same pictures as me. Nothing is stopping you except for computer power and if you have a mac, as the only mod version is PC and Reshade is for PC (sorry no mac)

    What is a:

Well, it is a form of compression, aka reducing the size of the mod as the original was 2.5gigabytes. This means you can download it faster and I can upload it faster as well. Windows can uncompress zip files automatically. Just right click the zip and click 'extract all'. Why did I make this guide? Because people I have met have asked how to open one.

Look- the map is runnable. If it wasn’t runnable, why would it be released? I get around the same frames as the stock map.

@M081LEng1NeeR Has been fixed twice now. On weak devices... you just got to wait for all those textures to load or restart

How come this doesn’t respond to fog? It makes it looks weird in the distance, especially around places with water.

First off, you may want to read the tutorial for installing mods. Go to the mods folder and delete the mod there. That will stop SP from crashing. Next time, instead of opening the .spmod, place it in that folder and run SP. @Cerdd

@NumbersNumbersTheMan The problem is, id click play then it says SP has crashed and to close it, plus idk how to get it into a mods folder or any of that, so idk what to do

Again, this is caused by a weak device as SP must decompress and move all 2 gigabytes of the mod into its own mod folder. We were able to solve the problem by rebooting SP and letting it wait for a bit so the mod can fully be uncompressed to run.

Another solution would be to move the mod directly into the mods folder, instead of clicking the spmod. This means SP won’t have to move the mod into its own mod folder when you boot up the game. When installing I was able to do so fastly this way, although I run on a powerful device. @Cerdd

Nah, it was planned but for some reason it came out black and white. So we added Courchevel instead, another super hard airport @asteroidbook345

Installing Mods

To use a mod, it must first be installed. Installing a mod consists of downloading the .spmod file (or .spmod-android on Android devices) and copying it in to the Mods folder for the game. The specifics of how this is done can vary by platform. The section below explains how to install a mod on each platform. Once a mod is installed, it must still be enabled in the game before it can be used (see the Managing Installed Mods section below for more info).

Windows

C:Users[Your User Name]AppDataLocalLowJundrooSimplePlanesMods

To install mods on a Windows version of SimplePlanes, copy mods into the above directory. The '[Your User Name]' part of the path should be replaced with your windows user name. The AppData folder is hidden by default so you may need to turn on the showing of hidden files in order to find the directory.

To make the installation of mods easier, file associations should be set up such that you can open a mod directly (such as by double-clicking on it) and it should launch the game and automatically install the mod for you. If you want to uninstall a mod, you will still need to navigate to the Mods directory listed above and manually delete the file.

If the game doesn't appear to load any installed mods, check the Mods directory above and make sure there are no .temp files in the directory. If there are, delete those .temp files and verify that all .spmod files are not marked as read-only.

OSX

~/Library/Application Support/Jundroo/SimplePlanes/Mods/

To install mods on an OSX version of SimplePlanes, copy mods into the above directory. The library folder may be hidden by default, so if you have trouble finding it, check out the article here.

The Mac App Store version of the game does not support modding due to Apple's App Store policies. Sorry.

Mods For Simpleplanes

iOS and Android

The mobile versions of the game do not support mods.

Steam Workshop

Some mods are hosted on the Steam Workshop. Using Steam, you can subscribe to these mods. Once subscribed, the mod will be automatically downloaded and installed. There might be a slight delay in the download process so a mod might not be available when jumping in to the game immediately after subscribing. If the mod was not fully downloaded before starting the game, you will need to exit the game and restart it before the mod becomes available.

Though mods are automatically installed, they are not automatically enabled. You will still need to enable the mod in game (see the Managing Installed Mods section below for more info). When a mod you have subscribed to in the Steam Workshop is updated, Steam will automatically download the update for you. If this happens, you should receive a message about updated content upon entering the game. When a mod is updated, it is automatically disabled. You will need to manually re-enable the mod after it is updated.

Managing Installed Mods

When one or more mods are installed, a 'Mod' button will show up in the main menu for the game. Clicking this button will take you to a menu with a list of installed mods. Mods that are currently enabled will have a green mark next to their name. Mods that have failed to load properly will have a red mark next to their name.

Clicking on a mod will show you some information about the mod in the panel on the right side of the screen. If the mod is not yet enabled, you can click the 'Enable' button at the bottom of the screen to enable the mod. It should become enabled immediately and show a green mark next to its name if everything loaded successfully. To disable a mod, select a mod that is currently enabled and click on the 'Disable' button at the bottom of the screen. A mod cannot be fully disabled until the game is restarted.
